Brief History of Salam University

Salam University was established in 2009 by a group of purposeful Muslim professors who have served at different reputed universities in Afghanistan and abroad, as a higher education institution. In accordance with Article (46) of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the regulations of Ministry of Higher Education, it was officially registered with Ministry of Higher Education holding registration No. 1388/20, dated 14/1/2010. The main campus was established in Kabul and its branch in Kunduz province. Due to obtaining the first place among the private universities after the comprehensive evaluation carried out by Ministry of Higher Education, and after it was approved by the Council of Ministers of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan by the approval number. (49), dated 25/2/2013, and the approval of Minister of Higher Education of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan by decree No. (1436 to 1223) dated 8/5/2013 and the letter sent on (387 to 1361) dated 3/8/2013 by the honorable chief of universities and higher education institutions, it was promoted from the Higher Education Institute to the University.

The purpose of establishing this educational institution is merely to educate the young generation of this homeland (Afghanistan) considering high quality and standards in the framework of religious and national values in order to play an active role in enhancing social affairs, political stability and economic development through having access to higher education.

At the beginning of its establishment, Salam University obtained a license for three faculties: Sharia & Law, Engineering and Economics, and finally, after passing three entrance exams in the mentioned faculties, at the beginning of 2011, it was able to obtain a license for two other faculties, Law & Political Science and Computer Science. Many male and female students have been studying in these five faculties in separate classes and in three shifts.

In 2014, Salam University was able to obtain the license for master program in two fields (jurisprudence & law and Islamic studies). Now this program is operating under an independent administration called "Master Board" in accordance with the bills and regulations of Ministry of Higher Education.

Successful Completion of the Second Stage of Quality Improvement:

Salam University, with its administrative, educational features and clear strategy in the field of safeguarding national and Islamic values, has so far been able to gain satisfaction of the people and obtain considerable trust. And as a result of the great efforts of the top management of the university, the deans of the faculties, the heads of the departments and other departments, has been able to successfully pass the second stage of quality improvement in 2018, and maintain its position with the people and the Ministry of Higher Education at the top.

Obtaining a National Accreditation Certificate (Third Stage of Quality Improvement)

Due to continuous and tireless efforts and implementation of all the quality assurance criteria, it was finally able to obtain the National Accreditation Certificate.

From 23 to 26 October, 2020, Salam University was externally reviewed by the Review Board of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Department of Ministry of Higher Education. The evaluation team considered Salam University as a standard university after presenting a detailed report and the necessary documents. The mentioned board in a meeting dated 21 /11/2020 and Protocol No. 45 of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation board discussed the evaluated documents and unanimously approved the Accreditation Certificate for Salam University. Finally, through the proposal (384) of the Department of Quality Assurance dated 24/11/2020 and Decree No. 5090/5162 of the esteemed office of Ministry of Higher Education dated 3/12/2020, the National Accreditation Certificate was granted to Salam University.
