The Faculty of Sharia at Salam University held an academic seminar titled “The Necessity of Changing Rulings with the Change of Time,” presented by Professor Abdul Malik Saqib.
The program began under the moderation of Rahmatullah, a sixth-semester student of Fiqh and Law, and was officially opened with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an by one of the students.
In his speech, Professor Saqib emphasized the necessity of adapting variable rulings in accordance with changing times, highlighting its importance in demonstrating the dynamism of Islamic Sharia, distinguishing between constants and variables, responding to social and cultural developments, addressing misconceptions of rigidity in Sharia, fulfilling the objectives of Sharia, and removing hardship and difficulty from the Ummah. He further explained the types of rulings (in terms of change and stability), the conditions for changing rulings, and the causes and factors that lead to such changes.
The program concluded with a prayer and expressions of hope for the continuation of such academic and cultural gatherings.
